The introduction of Court Fees (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2021 has now increased certain court fees for the first time since 2016. The court fees are increasing due to inflation.

The following increases will have effect: –

  1. The fee for filing a petition for a divorce, a nullity or civil partnership dissolution will increase from £550 to £593.
  2. An application under the Children Act 1989 for a child arrangement order, specific issues order, prohibited steps order, parental responsibility or financial provision for children will increase from £215 to £232.
  3. An agreed consent order will increase from £50 to £53.
  4. A request for document from the court will increase from £10 to £11.

A full list of Family Court fees increase can be found here at The Court Fees (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2021.

Help with fees:

There has been an increase in the threshold for eligibility for Help with Fees. However, the Help with Fees remission scheme is in place to assist those who are in receipt of certain benefits or a lower income.

At Adel Jibs & Co Solicitors we have found that the digitalisation of HMCTS has improved the significant delays that we were facing before. All divorce is now being dealt online.

If you require any initial expert legal advice about divorce, separation or children matters, please contact our solicitors in Enfield and speak to a member of the family team who will arrange an appointment.
