What to do if you are Sued ?

No one ever wants to get sued. It’s not a pleasant experience, but it does happen. If you are faced with the possibility of getting sued, then you need to know what your options are and how best to proceed in order to protect yourself.

In our experience at Adel Jibs & Co Solicitors, it is important that you act quickly, and be organised. So, what should do if you get sued?

If you receive court papers, there is nothing to stop you from acting for yourself. However it’s worth noting that the civil procedure process can be a minefield with all these rules and procedures- so we always advise people who are going through something like this early on in their case file have solicitors help them out instead!

Despite paying legal fees, instructing a solicitor early if someone sues you can be great value for money. For example, we recently had one client who was representing themselves in court without any knowledge of how the law worked or what they were doing wrong! Although this led to an expensive and stressful time fighting off potential claims from opponents’ lawyers. The Client then instructed the firm of Adel Jibs & Co Solicitors. Upon reviewing paper works, we found out that had our client sought legal advice sooner, there could have been opportunities to dismiss the case earlier.

So, if you receive court papers and are unsure of what to do or how to proceed with your case- Our Solicitors in Enfield can help! They will explain the legal process in detail. If it’s something that doesn’t matter much for yourself but someone close (like a partner) then we recommend getting them an instruction early on as well; because time is precious while dealing with these types of matters.

The lawyer wants to make sure they’re providing you with every opportunity for success. That’s why it is so important that we obtain all documentation relating your claim from the start! Tucked away in those piles of papers can often be what gives us what will help get things done right and quickly- previous Court orders or related documents are just some examples on how obtaining this stuff early saves time later down the line when our team needs these pieces rather than waiting around wondering where they went because someone wasn’t paying attention during initial intake before getting started helping out clients 100%.

If someone sues you, whether you decide to instruct solicitors or not, it is important that you do take some action.

If you receive a letter from someone who is considering bringing a claim against you (or indeed, from their solicitors), Litigation solicitors in Enfield can assist. Call us on 02034173859 or complete our online form.
