Do I qualify for legal aid?

Qualification is not based on income alone. We will usually need to understand:

  • The legal problem and any deadlines, notices or hearing dates
  • Your income, benefits, savings and household circumstances
  • Whether the matter falls within the legal-aid scheme
  • Any documents or decisions connected with the case

We cannot guarantee eligibility before assessing the information, but we can explain what evidence is needed and whether another funding option may be available.

Urgent legal-aid enquiries

If you have a court hearing, eviction date, homelessness deadline, police-station attendance or urgent child-protection issue, tell us immediately when contacting the firm.

How to start an enquiry

Send a short description of the problem, your postcode, any relevant deadline and whether you receive benefits. Please do not send original documents.
